Quentin Shih, (Shi Xiaofan) born in Tianjin, China, in 1975, holds a BS degree in Electrical Engineering from Southeast University, Nanjing, China, (1999) and attended a fine art photography artist residency program, "PHOTO GLOBAL" at the School of Visual Arts, New York, (2009-10). He has been based between Beijing and New York with stints in Paris. As a student he photographed underground artists and musicians in Nanjing, the capital of China’s eastern Jiangsu province. After graduation, he started his free lance professional photography career in Beijing. From 2000 to the present both the dramatic fashion photography and his conceptual fine art photography have been in solo and group exhibitions internationally in France, Belgium, China, Korea, the U.S. and elsewhere. His fine art photographic works are in the permanent collections of the Danforth Museum of Art, MA and the Worcester Art Museum, MA. Awards include Esquire Magazine's 'Photographer of the Year' (China) in 2007, and Hasselblad Fine Arts Award in 2009, among others. Now in Beijing he continues his photographic and film career.
